Chaac Technologies Demonstrates Breakthrough AI Mine Detection Capabilities at Gagetown Military Base
Montréal, QC – [Date] – Chaac Technologies is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) Sandbox demonstration at CFB Gagetown, to a special gathering of Canadian and Ukrainian military personnel at Eastern Canada’s largest Military base.
Towards the culmination of its Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) testing stream contract for mine detection earlier this year, Chaac was invited by the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) to participate in a high-profile demonstration before a joint delegation of Canadian and Ukrainian military representatives. The event showcased Chaac’s groundbreaking SHIELDS system (Secured Hazard Identification & Environmental Landmark Detection System), an advanced AI-powered platform for autonomous mine detection and battlefield mapping.
SHIELDS achieved an 84% detection success rate for PFM-type anti-personnel mines, during the live field trials at Gagetown. This marked the highest performance among all systems demonstrated, both Canadian and international over the course of the week-long event. This milestone underscores the effectiveness of Chaac’s proprietary artificial intelligence in addressing one of modern warfare’s most complex and urgent challenges: the need for rapid, reliable, and safe detection of explosive ordinances in active war and post-conflict zones.
“This achievement represents a major step forward for Canadian defense innovation,” said Fouad Mallouk, CMO of Chaac Technologies. “Our team has worked tirelessly to combine artificial intelligence, drone technology, and advanced imaging to protect those who risk their lives to protect us.”

Building on this success, Chaac Technologies is working closely with DND to further enhance SHIELDS’ detection accuracy through the integration of multispectral imaging inputs, including infrared and polarized camera technologies. These next-generation capabilities will accelerate the system’s progression toward full commercial and operational readiness.
In parallel, Chaac is expanding its battlefield AI applications beyond mine detection extending its expertise to identification of armoured vehicles, terrain classification, and environmental object recognition, laying the foundation for a new era of autonomous situational-awareness and digital battlefield intelligence.
“We’re proud to contribute Canadian innovation to technologies that can save lives and restore security in regions affected by conflict,” added Fouad. “This demonstration at Gagetown validates not only the strength of our technology but also our commitment to global humanitarian and defense objectives.”
Chaac Technologies remains committed to advancing defense-grade AI and immersive technologies that enhance operational safety, readiness, and precision across complex environments.
